Acidity :  One would not have acidity problem with empty stomach. If you have in large quantity extreme hot (pungent in taste), salty, sour or bitter food most of the time then it may cause acidity. When an excessive bile juice in stomach mixes with food, it causes fermentation and tries to come out. This causes burning sensation in the neck, chest and belly. In some cases it may cause headache or vomit. This problem worsens two to three hours after eating and midnight or in the morning. Have fasting for one or two days and then eat parched and beaten rice (POUA) with milk, rice cooked in milk, ROTI and milk only.

(1) Add yogurt and lump sugar to white onion cut in small pieces and eat it to get rid of acidity.

(2)  Take equal amount of raisins and myrobalan (HARADE) and add some lump sugar. Make tablets of about 12 grams and take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening to help in acidity.

(3) Take pumpkin juice with lump sugar if you have acidity.

(4) Take GANTHODA (knotty roots of piper longum) with powdered lump sugar if you are suffering from acidity.

(5) Taking ginger powder, lump sugar and powdered AMALA (hog-plums) with water may help in acidity.

(6)  Drink half a litre water with juice of one lemon and half a tea spoon lump sugar powder before half an hour having a meal to get rid of acidity.

(7) Take coriander and cumin seed powder with sugar in acidity.

(8) Drink in the evening 100 to 200 millilitre milk with some sugar and 4-5 powdered black pipers sauted in ghee in acidity.

(9) Take 1 to 2 grams soda-by-carb with coriander and cumin seed powder if you are suffering from acidity.

(10) Taking a tea spoon AMALA (hog-plum) powder morning and evening is a simple cure for acidity.

(11) Taking coriander and ginger powder with water may help in acidity.

(12) Take mandarin juice with roasted cumin seed powder and rock salt in acidity.

(13) Eat fresh coconut chewing thoroughly after breakfast or meal every time for help in acidity.

(14) You may not suffer from acidity if you eat a banana after breakfast or meal every day.

(15) Drink 250 millilitre water with juice of one lemon and 5 grams sugar before half an hour having meal. Never take this drink after a meal, otherwise acidity may worsen.

(16) Soak raisins and aniseeds in 250 ml water at night. Crush and strain in the morning.  Drink it with 10 grams lump sugar powder to help in not just acidity but also in belching, sour vomiting, hotness and blister in mouth and uneasiness with belly.

(17) Mix thoroughly 100 grams raisins, 100 grams small myrobalans and 200 grams lump sugar all in powder form. Make tablets of 10 grams and take one every day to help in acidity.

(18) AMLA (hog-plum) jam may also help in acidity.

(19) Take ginger juice with lemon flowers and natron (hydrated sodium carbonate).

(20) Sprinkle black piper powder and lump sugar powder on to pieces of pineapple and eat them.

(21) Tender radish or radish leaves juice and lump sugar may help in acidity.

(22) Pumpkin juice and lump sugar may be taken to get rid of acidity.

(23) Cut white onions finely and mix into yogurt. Add some lump sugar and eat.

(24) Soak a table spoon black sesame seeds in water. Crush finely and eat with butter or yogurt in the morning. It may  help in acidity.

(25) Dry fruits like almonds, pistachio, walnut and ground nut eaten in small quantity may help in not just acidity but also having strong teeth as there is calcium content in these fruits.

(26) Take a tea spoon myrobalan powder  with honey after meal may cure acidity within four days. If it is taken for long time you may get rid of acidity forever.

(27) Cook whole hog-plums (AMALA) with help of steam. Put them in a syrup of lump sugar and eat one of them every day in the morning.

(28) Soak raisins, lump sugar, aniseeds and coriander seeds in water. Crush, strain and drink at night before going to bed to get rid of acidity.

(29) If a cause of headache is acidity, then drinking lump sugar dissolved water may help immediately. (30) Drink coconut water three-four times during a day may help in acidity.

Precaution in acidity: Salty, sour and pungent food should be avoided or consume as less as possible. Do not wear foot ware made from rubber. Chew thoroughly all foods. Be cheerful all the time and give up addiction to intoxicating drugs or drinks.

    Thank you for your post. Heartburn is the result of the oesophageal sphincter muscle not functioning correctly to prevent acid from shooting upwards into the oesophagus.

    Diet plays an important role for any given disease. Those suffering from acid reflux should refrain from spicy food. They should be adopting a more bland diet, and consume food that are easily digested.

    I want to share a tip to rid oneself from acidity too. A good way to rid oneself from acid reflux / heartburn would be to drink potato juice every morning on an empty stomach for 10 days.
